Dr. Laura Pylman DVM is a mixed-animal veterinarian who’s just as comfortable providing animal health services to a colicky mare in the field as she is caring for a senior dog in the clinic. She earned both her Animal Science degree (with an equine focus) and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Michigan State University, where she concentrated on equine lameness and reproduction. After vet school, she worked at Prairie Equine in Barrington Hills, IL — a top-tier equine sports medicine practice — while also assisting at her mom’s small animal clinic. This mix of experiences gave her a wide-ranging skill set and a deep appreciation for the human-animal bond across species.
Horses have always been a significant part of Dr. Laura’s life. She’s ridden everything from Arabians and Quarter Horses to warmbloods, competing in various disciplines from rodeo to dressage. Nowadays, she focuses on dressage and ranch horse classes with her Arab/Warmblood cross. When she’s not at the clinic or the barn, you’ll probably find her out running... slowly — her favorite way to unwind and reset.
